Health Benefits of Sweet Corn


Sweet corn is liked by many of us due to its sweet flavor and juicy texture. The vegetable, although being delicious, is a rich source of vitamins and minerals such as vitamin B1, B5, C, phosphorus, manganese, and dietary fibre.Therefore, sweet corn has numerous health benefits. Sweet corn seeds are widely known in many dishes and salads. You can easily prepare by just boiling or steaming the kernels.

A major health benefit of sweet corn is that it is a good source of folate; helpful in maintaining a good health for heart. The consumption of sweet corn increases the memory levels. It is very beneficial for smokers as it help in reducing the risk of lung cancer. Sweet corn also provides digestive benefits and lowers the risk of intestinal problems. Moderate amounts of fibre in the food regulates rise in blood sugar levels. Corn is a good source of phenolic flavonoid antioxidant, ferulic acid. Several research studies suggest that ferulic acid plays vital role in preventing cancers, aging, and inflammation in humans.

Corn also contains thiamin, niacin, pantothenic acid, folates, riboflavin, and pyridoxine. Many of these vitamins functions as co-factors to enzymes in metabolism. In addition, it contains healthy amounts of some important minerals like zinc, magnesium, copper, iron, and manganese. Add sweet corn to your and dishes to have numerous health benefits.
Treat Piles at Home

Piles also known as hemorrhoids refer to the inflammation located near the anal passage. Piles can be located either on internal or external side of the anal cavity and are marked by bleeding, irritation, extreme pain in passing bowels. It is generally caused by constipation and faulty diet. Some common causes of piles are: low fibre diet, pregnancy, aging, hereditary, chronic constipation and anal intercourse. 

Following are some home remedies which can reduce the painful symptoms of piles:
Have ripe boiled bananas at least twice a day
Add some mustard powder to homemade curd 
You can minimize the pain by drinking juice made out of radish

Also juice of turnip leaves is equally effective in curing the condition of piles
You can apply baking soda on swollen veins to reduce inflammation
Application of warm olive oil is equally effective
Eat papaya, cabbage and colcasia.
You can also get some relief from pain by soaking in luke warm water in a big tub.

However, if the pain persists for a longer duration, you will need the expert opinion of a physician.

Have healthy hair at home

Take food rich in silica and iron as it prevents hair loss
Drink lots of water .It hydrates the scalp and keep your hair healthy
Include green leafy vegetables in your diet
Eat a protein rich diet like fish,eggs,yogurt and soy protein
You should avoid chemical hair styling products as it damages the hair. Instead use natural product like olive oil, almond oil, coconut oil, yogurt, etc.
